EVA Air has announced the latest round of flight cancellations on routes to Japan, with scheduled flight services being affected until mid-June. In a statement posted on its website, the Taiwanese carrier said that it will not be operating any flights to destinations within 200km of the Fukushima nuclear plant “to ensure the safety of aircraft and passengers”. This means that the airline’s three weekly flights between Taipei’s Taoyuan airport and both Tokyo Narita and Sapporo have been cancelled up until 19 June, while those between Songshan airport and Tokyo Haneda will not run until 30 May. Despite the reopening of Sendai airport, EVA’s flights to the northeast Japan hub have been cancelled until 30 June.
