EVA Air has flown its Hello Kitty jet to the US for the first time.
As part of a tie-up with the Japanese cartoon series, Taipei-based EVA has commenced three weekly flights to Los Angeles using a Boeing 777 aircraft adorned with images of Hello Kitty and her furry friends.
Flights started on Wednesday 18 September 2013 and will operate every Monday, Thursday and Saturday until 2 November. The schedule will then change to Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights until 8 March 2014.
As well as featuring the cartoon livery, EVA’s Hello Kitty jets feature pink cabins decorated with Hello Kitty images. Even the in-flight menus are themed with images of the cartoon characters, while cabin crew wear special Hello Kitty uniforms.
Currently EVA operates Hello Kitty flights from Taipei to a range of Asian destinations, including Tokyo, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The LA flights will comprise three of EVA’s 17 weekly services to the US city.
