Alan Wardle joins ABTA as Director of Public Affairs

ABTA has announced the appointment of Alan Wardle as director of Public Affairs. Wardle will join the association in December, reporting to Chief Executive Mark Tanzer.

Wardle joins ABTA from leading charity, NSPCC, where he has held the role of Head of Policy and Public Affairs for the past five years. He has considerable experience of public affairs, policy, government relations and political campaigning. Previous roles include Director of Public Affairs at Stonewall, and Programme Director: Public Affairs at the Local Government Association.  Prior to that, Wardle was in the civil service where he held various policy, finance and private office roles in the Department for Work and Pensions.

Wardle will lead ABTA’s Public Affairs team as the association continues to work with Westminster and Brussels legislators to ensure that regulations impacting travellers and the travel industry are effective and efficient.

Condor Ferries appoints new chief financial officer

Condor Ferries is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Clark as chief financial officer.

With more than 15 years’ experience in finance and risk management roles in the UK and Europe, including high profile capital investment projects, Jason brings with him a wealth of expertise and knowledge.

Commenting on his new appointment, Jason said: “I am very pleased to have joined Condor Ferries at this exciting time for the business.  My job is to make sure that Condor continues to thrive on a solid financial footing and is in the best possible position to offer value for money for our customers and stakeholders, now and in the future.

Niclas Mårtensson named CEO of Stena Line

Deputy CEO Niclas Mårtensson has been appointed CEO by the Stena Line. The current CEO, Carl-Johan Hagman, will resume his position as chairman of the Stena Line Board and will also remain in the role as Head of Shipping at Stena AB.

Niclas Mårtensson has more than 10 years’ experience of working in different senior positions within Stena Line including Route manager in Germany and Poland, COO and most recently as Deputy CEO.

“This appointment is a natural step in our development process.  We are pleased that we have recruited a CEO internally who will be able to fully focus on realising the strategy,” said Carl-Johan Hagman.
