Bangkok, Thailand (5 November 2009) - During the month of September, Exotissimo Travel hosted its annual Familiarization (FAM) trips across Southeast Asia. These three trips introduced travel agents from all corners of the globe to Exotissimo’s destinations, which included Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
Offering a blend of classic sightseeing and off-the-beaten-path excursions, the well-planned FAM itineraries showcased Exotissimo’s unrivaled expertise in tailor-making tours. In each destination, the group stayed in Exotissimo’s recommended property and hotel inspections were included in the programs to allow agents a better understanding of the local hospitality sector.
Hamish Keith, Director of Business Development of Exotissimo Travel Group, said, “Our 2009 FAM trips were an inspiration for many of the attending agents. Although most of them are not new to Asia, they were delighted to experience the best of our products and destinations in addition to keeping abreast of the latest trends in the region’s travel industry.”
This year, Exotissimo offered three itineraries, one in Myanmar, a combination tour of Thailand and Laos, and the third featuring Vietnam and Cambodia. Highlights included biking through Bangkok’s Chinatown, a stay at the Kamu Lodge near Luang Prabang, sandbank cocktails in Bagan, a hands-on cooking class in a herb village in Hoi An and a unique border crossing by boat. The itineraries ranged from 8 to 13 days with several agents opting to maximize their time in Asia by adding post-trip extensions.
The FAM trips were attended by travel agents from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and Russia. Many agents were impressed by what they experienced with Exotissimo and expressed eagerness to introduce Southeast Asia’s unique attractions to their clients.
“I was thoroughly impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of Exotissimo and their staff,” said Karen Hogue, Wonderful World Journeys and Myanmar FAM trip participant. “In fact, our guide was the best I have had in my life! What surprised me even more was the incredible beauty of Myanmar.”
Recounting the Vietnam-Cambodia trip, Anne Haass of Sabannah Travel, said, “I did enjoy the entire program and feel that we had a fun mix of people on the trip. I was very impressed with Exotissimo and have been telling fellow agents about Exotissimo’s products. The company gave me a marvelous taste of the region and I look forward to visiting again soon.”
Each year, Exotissimo offers several FAM trips in Southeast Asia for travel agents. To view in full what Exotissimo can offer, visit the company website at www.exotissimo.com.
