As our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) you will hold the highest responsibility in providing the technical vision and leadership across all technical teams in Global Leisure division to deliver a winning customer experience supported by sustainable technology solutions.
This role reinforces the company’s commitment to ownership, urgency, and driving business value from our technology investments. This role works in concert with Global Leisure’s Chief Product Officer (CPO) and the product management teams (who have ultimate accountability for prioritizing demand for engineering) to anticipate customer needs and execute a product roadmap that powers profitable growth.  As the CTO you’ll support this by installing engineering best practices such as test-driven coding, agile development, continuous integration, delivery, and deployment, and the related DevOps practices and overall technology strategy that are aligned to the company’s core values. Additionally, this role takes an “investor mind” to technology, understanding that the investments Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) places are aimed to drive commercial value, hence the role works collaboratively within Leisure’s core management team, CPOs and other FCTG divisions to simultaneously optimize outcomes for Leisure and for FCTG.
 
Key Responsibilities include:
 
Foster an open, fact-oriented, practical engineering culture that instills discipline and focus to get the best out of team members.
Consistently reduce technical debt, rationalize the portfolio of technologies in use, and drive towards tools, process and an architecture that achieve:
Ensure the optimal application of technology and engineering resources to meet customer, product management and marketing requirements.
Ensure that code, systems, and sources and uses of data are correctly documented.
Manage technical vendors, ensuring FCTG receives value for the investment.
Drive technical excellence through test-driven coding, agile development, continuous integration, delivery, and deployment, and related DevOps and service delivery practices.
Collaborate with other groups required to deliver winning products to market.
Collaborate with other executives to determine resourcing strategies, corporate budgets, schedules and deadlines, and ensure they are met.
Provide technical input into the overall business strategy.
Ensure alignment towards the Product states OKR’s and ensure value is driven out of technology investments
 
Desired skills and experience:
 
Technical degree or advanced degree preferred.
Preference with a successful track record as technical executives in B2C travel distribution.
Proven track record of successful delivery of across a diverse portfolio using agile methodologies.
Experience building, implementing, and/or refining a world-class engineering organisation.
Possess excellent mentoring, leadership, and time management skills.
Experience working in a matrixed organization preferred.
Knowledge of development, product and project management and monitoring tools.
Must be deeply technical enough to add immediate value in technical management choices, including selecting between competing alternatives among internal systems, vendor offerings and third-party platforms and tools that need to be rationalized.
Ability to identify and realize long-term goals as well as to anticipate problems and issues, and effectively resolve them.
Ability to rationalize and orchestrate resources across multiple locations, time zones, and brand product portfolios to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Mastery of effective communication written and oral form with peers, staff, and internal or external customers.
Experience leveraging low-cost centers of engineering excellence preferred.
