Finnair and UNICEF campaign on behalf of Indian children yielded good result
The Finnair and UNICEF Finland Change for Good campaign, which ran November 2010 to January 2011, again yielded a good result, with EUR45,094 (INR28 lakh)collected. UNICEF’s Clean Water and the Environment for the Children of India programme was the beneficiary of the collection for a second year. The three-year programme highlights in particular the importance of sanitation, hygiene and clean water.
The Change for Good collection takes place on nearly all international flights. In addition, during the campaign Finnair donated 50 cents for each new member of the company’s Facebook page.
The project helps build water points and toilets for schools. In addition, teachers are trained to enable them to instruct children in hand washing and other aspects of hygiene.
Finnair and UNICEF Finland organised the Change for Good campaign for the 15th time. To date, Finnair and its customers have raised more than one million euros for UNICEF’s work for the good of children, in fact a grand total of EUR1,046,474 precisely.
“This year we wanted to tell about UNICEF’s work in aid of the world’s children also via our social media channels and at the same time bring a new element to the campaign. We gained 3,778 new Facebook fans during the Change for Good campaign, as a result of which we donated to UNICEF and the children of India 1,889 euros on our fans’ behalf. In addition, Finnair donated a further 7,000 euros to the collection,” explains Finnair’s Communication Manager Maria Mroue.
Change for Good has been part of the charity work of many oneworld alliance airlines since 1999.
