Flybe plans to close six bases in the UK as part of its further redundancy and cost-cutting plans.
Proposals outlined by the carrier has cited potential closures of its bases at airport in Aberdeen, Guernsey, Inverness, Isle of Man, Jersey and Newcastle.
The airline will continue to operate flights from the airports and has revealed the details after unions consultations asked the carrier to keep details updated.
The base closures would come to a total of 160 jobs lost, while 116 redundancies will be made from its main base at Exeter.
Another 217 redundancies would cover its other bases at Belfast City, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Southampton.
“We are committed to connecting the UK’s regions and we intend to continue flying to these airports after the base closures. I know that these proposals are creating great personal uncertainty but they are necessary to secure a long-term future for Flybe and I am grateful to the various union and staff representatives for the very constructive manner in which we have been able to commence the consultation process,” said Saad Hammad, chief executive at Flybe. “I hope that the detail of the proposed base closures and staff cuts will further assist that process.”
