Flybe’s joint acquisition of Finnish Commuter Airlines has been approved by Finland’s competition authorities. First announced on 1 July 2011, the deal will see Finnish Commuter Airlines incorporated into Flybe Nordic AB, which is 60% owned by Flybe and 40% by Finnair.
The purchase is the first step in Flybe’s regional expansion plan, which intends to turn Flybe Nordic into a major regional player in Scandinavia, operating flights to Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia and Latvia.
