UAE-based low-cost carrier, flydubai, has announced that it will launch flights to the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, on 14 February 2011. The launch of the services will follow shortly after the airline’s entry into the Bangladeshi market, with flights to Chittagong starting on 17 January. Dhaka will be served four times a week from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2, using flydubai’s new Boeing 737-800 aircraft. A one-way fare to Dhaka from Dubai will cost from AED460 (INR5, 678), including one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7kg plus one small laptop bag or hand bag. Flights from Dhaka to Dubai start from US$200 (INR9,068). The city becomes the airline’s second destination in Bangladesh and its 32nd internationally. Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO, flydubai, said; “There is a large Bangladeshi population living and working in the UAE, and I’m confident that the addition of flydubai’s flights to the capital will be popular with this community, as it will provide opportunities for them to travel home more often.”
