Fog causes Chinese NY aviation chaos

Thick fog blanketing much of western China has delayed dozens of flights and left more than 16,000 passengers stranded at airports ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday, according to a Xinhua report.
At least 10,000 passengers were stranded at Chengdu’s Shuangliu International Airport on Sunday, after authorities closed the hub for over five hours. 121 flights were delayed and four cancelled. A further 6,000 passengers were left stranded at Urumqi International Airport, Xinjiang, where more than 100 inbound fights were diverted to other airports and, while 16 outbound flights were cancelled.
