Foreign tourists to ride tuk-tuks to Mumbai

Fifteen participants from Australia, US, UK, Canada and New Zealand have begun a seven-day adventure riding their tuk-tuks through the landscape from Goa to Mumbai. Times of India said the Deccan Odyssey Rickshaw Challenge was flagged off on Sunday, in which participants would be driving their auto-rickshaws through Belgaum, Kholapur, Pune, Aurangabad, and Nasik before reaching their destination – Mumbai. “Goa is a beautiful place. The people are friendly, nice and helpful,” said motoring enthusiast Colin Ristig.Having had two days of intensive training, driving their tricky tuk-tuk – as they refer to it, participants are looking forward to the trip, the report said. Of seven teams competing, winners will get a free entry into the Caucasian Challenge Motor Rally in Europe.”Along the way, they will have to complete certain challenges while experiencing the real India,” according to organisers, Chennai event management services. “Through a rickshaw one can feel every smell and every bump on the way, as well as touch the culture. We don’t organise sanitized tourism. Ours is adventure tourism with a reality feel to it,” Aravind Bremanandam, managing director, was quoted saying.
