Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so has been rebranded, and will now operate as the Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo.
After 20 years operating as a Four Seasons, Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko has reflagged its flagship property under the new name. The hotel continues to offer 260 rooms and suites, 12 restaurants, 36 meeting rooms and Tokyo’s largest hotel spa, but Fujita Kanko will now invest US$90 million to renovate the hotel over the next three years. New additions are expected to include a rooftop garden area for outdoor events, and a new open-kitchen café specialising in desserts and pastries. Some guest rooms will be also renovated with the addition of new bathrooms.
The word ‘Chinzanso’ means “villa on a mountain of camellias” in Japanese, due to the estimated 1,000 camellia trees that blossom every winter in the garden. And Fujita Kanko’s president & CEO, Kazumasa Suezawa, said his company would put extra focus on the hotel’s gardens.
“To start a new chapter in our history, we’re making even more use of our 17-acre (6.9-hectare) Japanese botanical garden,” said Suezawa. “Our garden, with its rich historical roots, has always separated us from competitors. Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is more than a luxury hotel, it’s a Japanese gem – a one-of-a-kind urban oasis where guests can indulge in the ultimate luxury while experiencing authentic Japanese culture.”
Following the rebranding, Four Seasons will continue to have a presence in the Japanese capital, with the Four Seasons Tokyo at Marunouchi.
