Tune Hotels is set to open four properties in Thailand with the first property opening doors later this year.
Chief Executive of the AirAsia owned budget hotel group, Mark Lankester, told The Nation newspaper that the first property will open in Hat Yai in December, followed by Pattaya in February. Hotels will open in Bangkok and Phuket later next year.
The Tune Hat Yai will feature 148 rooms and the Pattaya property, the largest of the four, will offer 192 rooms. The Bangkok property will boast 130 rooms and Phuket will offer 150 rooms. Three of the four properties are new-builds while the Hat Yai property is being renovated from an old hotel. Investment tabled for the four properties is valued at THB900 million.
Ten more properties are in the Tune Hotels’ Thailand development pipeline as it embarks on an aggressive expansion plan. The group is aiming to have an international portfolio of 100 properties by 2014. It currently operates 12 hotels in Malaysia (nine), Indonesia (two) and London, UK (one). Lankaster says new properties will be developed in Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Australia and the UK.
