A close friend of the Travel Daily Media team, Julie Isbill, has swum the English Channel for charity.
The amazing feat, saw the British Australia-based swimmer depart from the white cliffs of Dover on Monday and reach the shores of northern France more than 13 hours later.
Julie, a long-time friend of Travel Daily Media owner and publisher, Gary Marshall, swam through the night to complete the solo challenge, which raised money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAA).
She was supported by a crew of friends and family, including her partner Michael, who fed and watered her as she powered her way through the choppy channel waters, often in darkness.
The Channel Swimming Association charted her progress with its live tracking device and her final swim time was recorded at 13 hours, 21 minutes and 11 seconds.
Also on board the support team boat was Gary, who paid a heartfelt video tribute to Julie on completing this mammoth swim.
“She is a special friend and an inspiration to so many,” said Gary. “Congratulations Julie on an amazing life achievement of swimming the English Channel to France; I’m so glad I was part of the adventure.”
He also urged Travel Daily readers to show their support of Julie’s achievement by making a donation to the EAA through her Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Julie-Isbill
