Emirsyah Satar, president & CEO of Garuda Indonesia, has been named as the winner of the CNBC’s 2013 Travel Business Leader Award in Asia Pacific (TBLA).
In a recent award ceremony held in Singapore, the Indonesia national carrier’s chief was awarded for his leadership, which has seen Garuda embark on a major transformation and expansion strategy, ‘Quantum Leap’. Satar defined his business strategy as focusing on the customer, while ensuring that the company remains cost-effective and efficient.
He has also employed an HR programme called ‘MMC’ (meritocracy, market, capabilities), which fosters staff satisfaction and retention by rewarding good performance and offering employee incentives.

Satar was presented with the TBLA at the TravelRave Leaders Gala, which was organised by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
