Garuda Indonesia is considering deploying larger aircraft on its short flights between Bali and Lombok.

The Antara news agency reported the national carrier’s manager for West Nusa Tenggara province, Dasep M. Suanda, as saying that the existing turboprop flights could be upgraded to a jet aircraft in future.

“If it is indeed possible, we will replace the ATR aircraft with a capacity of 70 passengers with larger plans that can carry up to 200 passengers,” Suanda was quoted saying.

At present, Garuda operates three daily flights between the neighbouring islands using a mix of 70-seat ATRs and 162-seat Boeing 737s.
