British celebrity chef Gary Rhodes will create dishes for passengers in Malaysia Airlines’ Platinum Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport this month.
The airline, along with the British High Commission, have partnered with the Michelin-starred chef as part of the UK’s ‘Food is GREAT’ campaign, of which Rhodes is an ambassador.
The collaboration will see Rhodes and the airline’s chefs work together to create a special menu for Malaysia Airlines’ first class passengers and elite members of its frequent flyer programme at KLIA. The campaign kicked off on 2 November and will run for two weeks.
“We are excited to have been selected by the British High Commission as the exclusive airline partner for the ASEAN leg of the Food is GREAT road show,” said Malaysia Airlines’ head of marketing, Charles McKee.
“The special menu reflects our new innovative dining options to our lounge guests. We look forward to further elevating our first class passengers’ dining experience on [the] ground before they continue their gastronomic journey onboard the A380.”
The British menu will comprise a three-course meal, with pan-fried sea bass with spring onion and creamy potato, grilled sirloin steak with buttered spinach, tomatoes, black olives and basil cream Hollandaise, fried bread and butter pudding, white chocolate, date syrup and vanilla ice cream.
