GCAA holds strategic meeting with NBOS

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority recently held a meeting with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBOS) at The Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre, in order to discuss its aviation statistics program.
The meeting was attended by executives representing the GCAA, NBOS as well as Department of Transport Abu Dhabi and Departments of Civil Aviation in Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.
Agenda highlights included discussion of ways to improve cooperation between GCAA and the NBOS, dedicating all available resources and capabilities to take their mutual efforts to new levels. The step is in line with organizations’ objectives to develop capabilities such as benchmarking at the regional and global level, improved ability to anticipate socio economic demands and meet operational challenges.
HE Saif Mohammad Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA asserted the Authority’s commitment towards ongoing improvement and development in the country, reiterating the importance of cooperation with the NBOS.. This collaboration would contribute to better methods of data collection, management and usage as well as coordinating and sharing best practices in setting up databases, which would ultimately reflect positively on the UAE’s civil aviation sector.
Meanwhile, HE Rashid Khamis Al Suwaidi, Director General of the National Bureau of Statistics, confirmed the importance of the meeting to help follow up issues of interest on the statistical front, in addition to ongoing coordination with all government institutions. He pointed out that coordination with GCAA forms an integral part of the Bureau’s strategy aiming to boost cooperation and offer technical support and expertise in the field of statistics to all public departments, highlighting the main role of the Authority as a strategic partner in those efforts.
