The tourism industry in India’s state of Goa is going with green with about 10 five-star hotels beginning to explore energy audits to promote “green tourism” in the state.
The Times of India said the Energy and Resources Institute was also proposing “green buildings” in the tourism sector.
“Green tourism creates a ripple effect as its implications extend to the tourism sector, in the locality, in the tourist’s place of origin. It also encompasses eco-tourism, rural tourism and heritage tourism,” Associate Fellow with TERI Saltanat Kazi was quoted saying.
