Goldtrail shutdown sparks trouble for Greece and Turkey holidays

Goldtrail Travel and Sunmar ceased trading on Friday, leaving the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to return 16,000 holidaymakers back to the UK and agents rush to rebook clients’ holidays. Thousands of summer holidaymakers will be affected by the shutdown of the Turkey and Greece specialist, which announced its administration at 4pm on Friday. Passengers turned up to UK airports Saturday morning unaware of the firm’s closure. They were told on arrival that the operator had gone bust and were escorted from the airport, according to The Guardian. Meanwhile, agents in Turkey have warned hotel managers that they will not receive compensation from Goldtrail and suggested British tourists should pay. As a result, hotels are charging Goldtrail customers extra although their holiday has already been paid for.
