Gordon Ramsay will arrive in Asia in September with the launch of the first of several new restaurants in the region.
The opening of the Bread Street Kitchen in Hong Kong will mark the start of the British celebrity chef’s expansion across Asia, with more new restaurants expected to open in late 2014 and 2015. This includes a tie-up with Las Vegas Sands to launch new outlets in Singapore and Macau.
The Gordon Ramsay Group will be partnering Dining Concepts in Hong Kong, which specialises in the developing high-end restaurants in the region.
“This is an exciting step for the group, not only to be entering Asia, which has such an amazing food culture but also to bringing our London concepts which have been such a success, to new markets,” said Ramsay.
The first new restaurant to open will be the Hong Kong edition of Bread Street Kitchen, which Ramsay says will “mirror its counterpart in London”, with a warehouse-style design and a modern British-European menu.
The Gordon Ramsay Group currently operates 24 restaurants across the world, with a total of seven Michelin stars. The company’s flagship Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London has held three Michelin-stars for more than 12 years. In recent years however, the group has diversified from fine-dining into more casual eateries, including Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill in Las Vegas.
“We get many invitations to expand internationally but it’s important that we work with the right partner who can ensure that our high quality experiences can be delivered,” said Stuart Gillies, managing director of the Gordon Ramsay Group.
“We are really excited about opening in Asia and believe there is a lot of growth potential not just for Bread Street Kitchen but other concepts in our London collection.”
