UKinbound has welcomed news that tourism in the UK received less funding cuts than expected.
The inbound tourism agency said support for tourism was crucial as both the public and private sector look to boost numbers.
“Whilst no cut to funding is positive, this is much less than anticipated and given the current economic climate, is better than anyone was expecting,” said UKinbound’s chief executive Mary Rance.
“Findings of our research, showing that inbound bookings, whilst fragile in some markets appear to be strengthening, and is demonstrative of how much the UK is reliant on the effective promotion of Britain. Such fantastic work has taken place promoting the UK as a destination and we must ensure the Government continues to realise the contribution inbound tourism makes to economic recovery,” she added.
