In a business climate where corporate social responsibility is increasingly important to company profitability, environmental practices matter. The events industry has a reputably poor track record in this area, meaning green credentials can be a defining factor for event planners when deciding where to hold their next Business Event. The Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau yesterday released the results of the 2011 Melbourne’s ‘Green Credentials’ Report, which identifies the key green initiatives in the state of Victoria. The report looks at hotels in the city and region, listing their environmental credentials in detail. The publisher also promotes its own ‘Event Carbon Calculator’ powered by the Carbon Reduction Institute to allow event planners to calculate, reduce and offset the emissions of events held in Melbourne.
