Grounded Mandala US$87 million in debt

Indonesian low-cost carrier, Mandala Airlines, which suspended all flight operations last week, has revealed debts of IDR800 billion (US$87 million). Cited by local news portal, kontan.co.id, the airline’s lawyer Nien Rafles Siregar, said the debts were from 271 different creditors. The Jakarta-based LCC, which operates international services to Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau as well as numerous domestic routes, said on Thursday it was temporarily grounding all flights as it restructures its debts.
