Gulf Air along with the Information & eGovernment Authority (IGA) recently conducted a knowledge sharing session at the airline’s Muharraq headquarters.
The session was held in order to raise awareness and facilitate understanding of protection of state information and documents, in line with state secrets law.
Gulf Air acting chief executive officer, Maher Salman Al Musallam said: “It is of critical importance that Gulf Air’s management team and the airline’s entire workforce, have capabilities and knowledge to collect, classify and maintain information securely and responsibly. Such knowledge sharing sessions help us work together to secure all Gulf Air information and ensure the airline’s compliance with information handling requirements.”
The session was attended by representatives from a broad spectrum of Gulf Air divisions and was conducted by Ahmed Jaber Aldoseri, IGA’s acting director general of information security. Topics of discussion included recommendations and best practices on classification of information and documents and the various levels of protection that need to be applied throughout any information or document’s life cycle.
The airline also recently established an Information Handling Committee to oversee the implementation and practices related to data classification and information handling in the company.
