Gulf Air will launch flights to Copenhagen and Nairobi from its base in Bahrain in July. The Danish city service will commence on 1 July with four flights a week and the same amount will be available on the Nairobi route from 5 July. It will also recommence flights to Geneva, Milan, Addis Ababa and Kabul from 15 June. Samer Mahali, CEO of Gulf Air, explained the move. “Scandinavians are keen travellers to the Asian and the Indian sub-continent regions and Copenhagen is an aviation hub for the Scandinavian and Baltic regions. The city also enjoys good surface connections with southern Sweden,” he said. “In addition, Copenhagen is home to many international corporations and organisations, and we see a strong potential for business traffic to and from the region.” The airline also hopes to target business travellers with the Nairobi route. Meanwhile, Gulf Air will increase frequencies on its Milan route from four to six flights per week from 1 July. The airline will operate the service using two schedules, with flights departing Bahrain at 2.15am on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays, and at 10.05am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The flights will be operated using an Airbus A320 aircraft with 16 seats in Falcon Gold class and 120 in Economy class.Gulf Air CEO Samer Majali said: “We are pleased to increase our frequency to and from Milan and add more capacity. The new route, which we launched just last month, has already become popular and we are encouraged by the bookings and high level of enquiries from potential travellers. Come summer, the demand will be even higher and therefore we have decided to upgrade the route with a new Airbus A320 aircraft, which can take more people and cargo.”In addition, the split schedule gives flexible options for our customers to choose their arrival and departures according to their business and leisure needs. Last but not the least, the split schedule also offers more onward connectivity options for those travelling beyond Bahrain.”
