The Gulf region’s high-speed railway, due for completion in 2017, could carry passengers at speeds of up to 350kph, UAE-based newspaper, The National, has reported. The new super-high-speed proposal - which is significantly faster than the original plan for 200kph trains - will cost around US$25 billion, the report said. A decision on whether to lay tracks for the faster trains is expected to be reached later this year.
