Hainan Airlines took delivery of its fifth Boeing 787 Dreamliner this week, and will deploy the aircraft to Xiamen, in southeast China’s Fujian province.
Commencing on 23 December 2013, the Dreamliner will operate one of Hainan Airlines’ three daily flights on the Beijing-Xiamen route, replacing the B737-800 that currently operates the morning flight.
The B787-8 aircraft comes equipped with 213 seats – 36 in business class and 177 in economy – all with personal in-flight entertainment systems and power outlets.
Hainan Airlines started taking deliveries of its Dreamliners this summer, and has since flown them to a range of domestic destinations, including Shanghai, Haikou, Hangzhou, Changsha, Chengdu and Kunming. It also recently commenced its first international B787 service to Chicago.
The airline has ordered a total of 10 Dreamliners, with future destinations set to include Seattle and Toronto.
