Archipelago International has opened its first ever Harper Hotel in Yogyakarta.
Located on Jalan Mangkubumim, close to the city’s Royal Palace and Tugu railway station, the Harper Mangkubumi Yogyakarta by Aston hotel features 131 rooms and suites, a restaurant, spa and an outdoor swimming pool with a children’s pool.
For the MICE market, the property offers six meeting rooms and a grand ballroom that can accommodate up to 400 delegates.
The new hotel becomes only the second Harper, following the brand’s debut in the Kuta area of Bali last year.
“Already during soft opening we enjoyed occupancies of well above 80% which confirms that Harper Makubumi is about to replicate the success we had in Bali,” said Norbert Vas, Archipelago’s vice president of sales & marketing. “The hotel is an attractive mid-market addition to our other offerings, such as the… Grand Aston Yogyakarta and the budget-oriented favehotel Kusumanegara.”
Archipelago markets the Harper brand as providing modern midscale hotels that are “infused with rustic charm”. They are aimed at the “millennia generation, which makes up the bulk of Indonesia’s growing upper middle classes, young families and tourist from overseas”, according to the company.
Following the Yogyakarta and Kuta launches, Archipelago is planning to grow the Harper brand in key locations across Indonesia. New hotels are already under construction in Jakarta, Cawang, Purwakarta, Bogor, Benjarmasin and Makassar.
