Hawaiian Airlines to launch NZ flights
Hawaiian Airlines will commence direct flights to Auckland from 14 March 2013.
The new services will operate three times a week direct to and from Honolulu, using Hawaiian’s two-class, 264-seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. Schedule details will be announced at a later date.
“New Zealanders are avid travellers and we believe the introduction of new non-stop flights… will be welcomed in meeting pent-up demand for a Hawaii vacation,” said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian’s President & CEO.
Tourism New Zealand’s Chief Executive, Kevin Bowler welcomed the announcement. “The United States is a vital market for New Zealand leisure and business travel, and is a key focus for our marketing efforts given the significant potential for growth that exists. The ability to connect through Hawaii will provide a critical link for converting those considering travel into actual bookings,” Bowler said.
Travellers from New Zealand will also be able to connect via Honolulu to 11 US mainland destinations – Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Jose, Oakland, San Diego and Phoenix.
Auckland will become the seventh new Asia Pacific destination Hawaiian has announced since November 2010, following Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Seoul and Brisbane.
