From 1 August high-speed trains will link Beijing and Tianjin, cutting down thetrip time considerably.
The new trains,built domestically with help from German technology, take just a third of thetime – 30 minutes – to reach Tianjin,The Straits Times reported.
A typical trip to Tianjin from Beijing,for instance, would take at least an hour by regular train, and 90 minutes by car.
The report saidthe real impact of the high-speed trains would be felt in the next five years,as it links up several major Chinese cities along the eastern coast, including Shanghai.
By considerablyshortening commuting time, these trains would likely change the way manyChinese work and play, the report said.
