A bridge on a major highway in northwest China’s Xinjiang region collapsed on Tuesday, local media has reported. The bridge, which spanned a river near the city of Korli, caved in early yesterday morning. No vehicles were thought to be crossing the bridge at the time, and no casualties have been reported. The 1,948km highway connects Xinjiang’s capital, Urumqi, with China’s far western border with Pakistan.
