Hike in Abu Dhabi hotel guests for first quarter

Abu Dhabi has reported a 19% increase in the number of guests staying the city’s 116 hotels and hotel apartments in the first three months of this year.
Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) figures show a 9% rise in hotel guests on the same period last year.
Domestic tourism grew 25% with the top five overseas markets being the UK, the GCC, the USA, India and Germany.
“We are on track to attain our year-end target of a 10% increase in hotel guests to 1.65 million,” explained ADTA Director General Mubarak Al Muhairi.
Average occupancy rates for Abu Dhabi’s accommodation providers this year came in at 66% ahead of some major international tourism destinations including Madrid and Berlin, both of which rated 58% and Beijing on 54%.

Abu Dhabi’s hotel room stock is set to rise further this year - by 4,000 plus rooms and another 11 hotels are slated to open by the end of the year.
“Destination development is also being enhanced by improved air access resulting from the growth of Etihad Airways’ route network and the arrival of new airlines serving both Abu Dhabi and Al Ain international airport,” said Al Muhairi.
