Deputy Thailand Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban along with the Defense Minister, Commanders of the Armed Forces and the National Police Chief all visited Phuket during the weekend ahead of the upcoming ASEAN summit, reports the Nation.
The group met with tourism industry leaders and local government officials at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa to review whether this huge complex would be used to host the postponed ASEAN summit, now planned for mid July.
Attending nations have insisted that a five kilometer exclusion zone be enforced by the army around this site, to avoid any of the disruptions that plagued the recently abandoned Pattaya summit.
