Hong Kong Express Airways has received approval to operate flights to Beijing and Shanghai, the third Hong Kong carrier permitted to do so.
The approval follows a new agreement signed last month between Hong Kong and mainland Chinese authorities to further liberalise the aviation market, allowing more airlines to operate on key mainland China routes.
Ronnie Choi, President of Hong Kong Express Airways, said 2008 would be a “landmark year” for the airline, with these new routes. It will add a further six Boeing 737-800 aircraft to its current four-strong fleet before the end of the year.
