Hong Kong International Airport’s (HKIA) passenger traffic may fall as much as 3% in 2009, according to Airport Authority CEO, Stanley Hui. Bloomberg reported Hui as predicting that HKIA, which handled 48 million passengers in 2008, was likely to see the effects of the global economic crisis hitting travel demand.
The outlook for traffic is “bleak” this year, Hui was reported saying in interview yesterday. He added that; “There will be bigger a decline in cargo. This one will really take a much longer time before we see a recovery.”
