InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the relaunch of its Holiday Inn properties in Chiang Mai, Cha-Am and Phi Phi Island, completing the Thailand phase of the US$1 billion global brand upgrade.
“We are delighted to complete the Thailand phase of the refresh project with the Holiday Inn Chiangmai, Holiday Inn Resort Regent Beach Cha-Am, and Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island,” said Alan Watts, IHG’s Vice President of Operations – South East Asia. “Attuned with the requirements of the modern and dynamic global traveller, the Holiday Inn refresh strengthens and repositions the brand at the forefront of the highly competitive hospitality/travel industry, specifically in Thailand, which remains one of the most popular travel destinations in Asia.
“Although tourism in Thailand dipped in recent years due to unprecedented internal events, Holiday Inn has always been highly optimistic, and rightly so, as 2011 sees Thailand reemerging strongly once again as a business and leisure destination of choice for local, regional, and international travellers,” Watts continued.
The global brand upgrade was first announced in 2007 and is the biggest rebranding exercise in the hospitality industry. The three Thai properties are latest properties to be refreshed, in an exercise that has so far relaunched 3,100 hotels and 430,000 rooms worldwide.
All refurbished Holiday Inn hotels now feature a revised look, feel and scent, with new facilities, an updated logo and signage. The guest rooms now feature beds with two comfort levels: soft and firm, as well as bathrooms with pressurised showerheads. The rooms will also feature new business-focused facilities such as workstations, data ports, high speed Internet access and Wi-Fi.
Holiday Inn Chiangmai, Holiday Inn Resort Regent Beach Cha-Am, and Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island are the final three Thai Holiday Inns to have undergone the revamp, following the Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok, Holiday Inn Phuket, and Holiday Inn Bangkok, which were relaunched earlier. The newly-built Holiday Inn Pattaya also recently joined the brand’s Thailand portfolio.
