InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced that its second Holiday Inn in Phuket – the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Mai Khao Beach – will open its doors this month. Located 10km from the Phuket International Airport on the island’s northwest coast, the 246-room hotel is intended to be family-friendly, with rooms including a ‘Kid’s Suite’ with areas for both parents and children, including bunk beds and a play corner that features a flat screen TV, a DVD player and games console. The Family Suite meanwhile, has the same concept as the Kid’s Suite, but with a specially-designed room for the kids, which comes with a kid’s bathtub. The resort also features a ‘Teen Zone’ and a Kid’s Club.
“We are excited to open our second property in Phuket, allowing us to provide more choices to travellers in one of Southeast Asia’s most popular destinations,” said Alan Watts, IHG’s Vice President for Operations, Southeast Asia. “Holiday Inn hotels and resorts are specifically designed for leisure travellers and families looking for great servicer and great value in a relaxed environment.”
Facilities at the resort include a beachfront infinity pool overlooking the Andaman Sea, a fitness centre, the Tea Tree Spa, and a selection of dining facilities. All rooms feature a balcony or terrace, as well as large walk-in rain showers, flat-screen LCD TVs connected to DVD players and iPod docking stations, as well as free Wi-Fi.
The soon-to-open resort also has several environmentally-friendly facilities, including an efficient water-recycling system, an energy-saving system and the absence of motorised vehicles in the resort.
