Holiday Inn Mumbai Airport supports HOPE Worldwide

Mumbai, July 19, 2010: Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport has teamed up with HOPE Worldwide (India), a Non-Profit Organization, to raise funds to construct and run a school with a capacity of 400 students for the underprivileged children in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The programme which was launched on the 25th of May has so far enabled the Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport to raise over Rs.15,000.
Commenting on the initiative, Harry Thaliwal, General Manager, Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport, said, “In our endeavors to give back to the community, through our tie-up with the HOPE Worldwide Foundation, we hope to provide access to education and empower people. HOPE Worldwide has opened schools in some of the most inadequate and deprived localities in India, which aim to provide free education to the children affected by poverty, calamity or child labor and we are honored to be a part of this initiative.”
The programme will be primarily driven by the Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport’s front desk and under this programme, hotel guests during their check-out will be requested to pay an additional amount of Rs. 50 on their entire bill. The funds raised by the hotel will be channelized to HOPE Worldwide (India) on a monthly basis.
Speaking on the collaboration, Gimms Andrews, Chief Financial Officer, HOPE Worldwide (India) said, “We appreciate the commitment shown by Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport in helping us build and run the school in Chennai. Our endeavor has been to encourage education in India and create an inspirational platform for the marginalized sections of the society to overcome economic constraints. Through this association, we hope to build a sustainable livelihood for many families.”
