Carnival subsidiary Holland America Line (HAL) has celebrated its 140-year anniversary at a special event at Keukenhof Gardens.
A commemorative ‘signature’ tulip was christened by president and CEO of HAL Stein Kruse who was joined by president of the board of directors at Keukenhof Walter Jansen and master grower Jan Pennings.
“Holland America Line has a deep connection to the Netherlands, and to have a tulip named especially for our company is a true honour,” said Kruse. “I can’t imagine a more appropriate way to celebrate our 140th anniversary than to christen our tulip in the world’s most beautiful and famous gardens.”
The bulbs of the white petal tulip were handed over in November at the famous Keukenhof windmill, which HAL donated in 1957. The bulbs have been planted at the firm’s Seattle and Southampton headquarters.
