The new MoU between Honeywell Aerospace and OneWeb Ltd will provide aircraft equipment and services linked to OneWeb’s constellation of more than 600 satellites.

Once operational, this network is expected to provide approximately 10 terabits per second of high-speed internet access to billions of people around the world, and using Honeywell’s hardware it will further enable the expansion of in-flight connectivity.

“At Honeywell, our goal is to expand in-flight connectivity through ambitious technology innovation,” said Carl Esposito, the company’s vice president of marketing & product management.

“By leveraging OneWeb’s satellite network, we can bring the benefits of connectivity to new customers, improving aircraft efficiency, safety, comfort and security.”

The OneWeb satellites are expected to be operational in approximately four years.
