Hong Kong Airlines announced its first daily direct service to Narita Airport in Tokyo, Japan, this week.
To mark the official launch of the route, Hong Kong Airlines held celebrations at both Hong Kong International Airport and Narita International Airport. Before departure, all passengers scheduled to depart the flight from Hong Kong were presented with a commemorative certificate and luggage tag to mark the occasion, and at the check-in counter, passengers were greeted with Japanese-themed decorations.
Following flight HX608, Narita International Airport also organised a traditional water cannon salute. Later, all passengers scheduled to depart the flight from Tokyo were presented with specially designed goodie bag to commemorate Hong Kong Airlines’ flight HX609 from Narita Tokyo to Hong Kong.
In his speech at the welcome and ribbon cutting ceremony, Mr. Li Dianchun, chief commercial officer of Hong Kong Airlines, said, “As the capital of Japan and one of Asia’s world cities, Tokyo has always been a top business and travel destination for Hong Kong travelers.
“In recent years, Hong Kong Airlines has been actively expanding our network in Japan. The opening of the Hong Kong-Narita route is of special strategic significance to us as we now cover this crucial destination in Kanto area.”
