Hong Kong decline 3.4% in first half

Visitor arrivals to Hong Kong reached 13,696,779 in the first six months of 2009, a 3.4% decline from the same period in 2008, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) announced yesterday. Mainland China achieved growth of 4.6% to 8.26 million arrivals in the first half. Overall arrivals from the short-haul regions however, decreased by a 1.3%, with North Asia showing a 25.4% decline. For the long-haul regions, arrivals dropped 14.0%.
