Hong Kong saw a robust performance in January in terms of visitor arrivals, recording a 16% year-on-year increase.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board said the achievement was especially as it was an all-round performance of markets worldwide. Arrivals from non-Mainland market regions enjoyed double-digit gain of 12.6%. In particular, several individual markets maintained their recent buoyancy, including the high-potential market of South Korea (+28.2%), and such emerging markets as Russia (+44.2%) and the Middle East (+22.9%).
As for Mainland China, which continued to be Hong Kong’s leading source market, arrivals increased by 19% to over 1.4 million.
