Hotel Icon, the luxury property in Hong Kong, has purchased its first zero emissions vehicle, the BMW i3.
The new car will make its debut at the hotel in November 2014, transporting guests to and from Hong Kong International Airport, and on business, sightseeing and shopping trips around the city.
Guests who book direct with the hotel for stays within two weeks of the car’s launch will also have a chance to win a free transfer.
“Not only is Hotel Icon committed to reducing carbon impact, but we understand the new luxury millennials are a new breed of travellers that are very environmentally aware,” said Richard Hatter, the hotel’s general manager.
“We recognise that our vehicles impact on the environment and this is only the first step. We are looking at purchasing and further expanding with electric shuttle buses to follow.”
The BMW i3 is not only emissions-free, but the exterior is made from carbon-fibre reinforced plastic to improve the vehicle’s energy consumption.
