Wyndham Hotel Group has launched its first ever Howard Johnson hotel in India.
The new Howard Johnson Bengaluru Hebbal is a 117-room midscale hotel, located close to the city’s Kempegowda International Airport and adjacent to Manyata Embassy Business Park.
The brand’s entry into India follows the signing of a franchise agreement with Unique Mercantile India, and the company’s executive director, Rahul Rai, revealed that he now plans to roll out a series of Howard Johnson hotels across the country in future.
“We are happy to announce the launch of the first Howard Johnson hotel in Bengaluru,” said Rai. “Under the agreement with Wyndham Hotel Group, we plan to launch 35 Howard Johnson properties by 2020 across different parts of India.
“Following an exclusive business model in the hospitality sector, our aim is to invest in both incomplete and existing hotels which are underperforming or in need of cash infusion. We aim to convert such hotels into HoJo properties and provide them with the requisite international standards of operation and management. Wyndham has the expertise in managing and marketing of hotels and with our partnership we hope to strengthen HoJo’s presence in India, a brand that is recognised around the world,” added Rai.
The new Howard Johnson Bengaluru Hebbal will include a full range of facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool, spa, fitness centre, 24-hour business centre and more than 300m² of conference and banqueting space.
“Howard Johnson, affectionately known as ‘HoJo’ to millions of travellers around the world, is one of the most popular and widely recognised names in the Wyndham Hotel Group portfolio,” explained Deepika Arora, Wyndham’s regional vice president for India and the Indian Ocean.
“It is known for its facilities, comfort and friendly ambiance. In India, Howard Johnson is a mid-market, full service hotel which is made for the everyday traveller and will target the cost conscious leisure as well as business traveller across various markets.”
The launch of Hoard Johnson in Bengaluru follows Wyndham’s recent signing of 10 new franchise properties, which will operate under the Ramada Encore and Howard Johnson brands in second and third tier cities across India.
