Travel experts from tourism and accommodation directory iknow-yorkshire.co.uk have declared Hull a must-visit summer hotspot, after witnessing a surge in interest. This year’s searches are up 109.9% from last year, with many site visitors looking up things to see and in the city. “With so much travel chaos this year caused first by the weather, then by the volcanic ash cloud and then the constant threat of airport strikes, it is really no surprise that people are looking closer to home to entertain themselves this summer,” said iknow-yorkshire.co.uk managing director Marcus Simmons. “Hull is a great city and has seen a significant amount of investment and development in recent years and it’s obvious that people are really sitting up and taking notice of it. It is definitely punching above its weight this summer and fingers crossed the local economy will see a real benefit from this increased interest in what it has to offer.”
