Melisa Raffaelli has been promoted to director of sales at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh. Raffaelli has worked at the hotel since 2002 where she started as a guest services agent and moved through group and events sales. She previously was also account director for Starwood in Scotland.
Brenda Collin has been appointed regional director UK, Ireland and Nordics for the Preferred Hotel Group. Collin will be responsible for development opportunities for hotels in the region. She joins the firm from technology company HotelREZ and has also worked for Utell/Pegasus and Hilton.
Lorna Willis has joined TIPTO as account manager. Willis is to take over Kerri Thorpe’s role who is taking a career break to go travelling after five years at the consortia. Willis will report to Sally Summerhayes and will be involved in the day-to-day management and running roadshows.
Tony D’Astolfo has been named as the new managing director at PhoCusWright. D’Astolfo was most recently chief sales officer at GroundLink; is an ex vice president of Sabre Holdings and spent 19 years at United Airlines.
Peter Fraser has been appointed general manager of Sandals LaSource Grenada. Fraser was previously general manager at the Sandals Royal Planation and joined the Grenada resort earlier this month in preparation for its opening on 12 December.
James Bueno has been named general manager of the R.S. Hispaniola. Bueno joins the City Cruises’ vessel after 10 years in hospitality which started as a barman at Café Boheme to general manager of The Green, Oxford in 2003. He has also been general manager at several London restaurants.
Captain Ed Perrin is to lead the senior officer team for Princess Cruises’ new ship Regal Princess. The team will also include relief captain Dino Sagani, relief captain John Foster, chief engineer Rosario Segreto, hotel general manager Dirk Brand, and staff captain Aldo Traverso. Perrin has been in command of several Princess ships since 2006.
Anna Bologna has been named vice president, brand strategy at TripAdvisor. Bologna was previously managing director at MDC Partners in New York and has also worked with Starbucks, Virgin, Pepsi, Amazon Kindle and Citibank.
David Boden has been appointed Park Resorts new CEO replacing founder and incumbent chief exec David Vaughn who will become the company’s company chairman. Boden has senior board level experience with Rank Group and Hippodrome Casino.
