Hyatt has returned to the ancient Chinese city of Xi’an with the launch of a new luxury hotel.

The new Hyatt Regency Xi’an is located in the city’s Qujiang district, which is home to a series of scenic areas around Qujiang Lake. It is 45 minute’ drive from Xianyang International Airport.

“As the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and a strategic hub for the contemporary Belt and Road initiative, Xi’an is one of the most visited leisure and business destinations in northwest China,” said Christopher Koehler, Hyatt’s vice president and managing director of operations for China.

“We are thrilled to welcome back the Hyatt Regency brand to this historic city, further reinforcing Hyatt’s commitment to growing its brand presence in key cities around the world.”

Hyatt Regency Xi’an offers 298 rooms and suites, ranging in size from 50 to 258m². Most rooms feature a private balcony overlooking Qujiang Lake, and some offer access to the Regency Club lounge. The Presidential and Chairman’s Suites both feature large grass terrace areas, private outdoor pools and in-room kitchens, while the latter comes fitted with a jacuzzi and massage room spread over two floors.

F&B offerings at the hotel include international and Chinese restaurants, including 10 private dining rooms, plus a lakeside lounge and poolside bar. Other facilities include a spa with eight treatment rooms, a 176m² glass-walled fitness centre, yoga room and large heated indoor swimming pool.

And for the MICE market, Hyatt Regency Xi’an features more than 4,000m² of function space, including the vast 1,220m² Regency Ballroom, the 405m² Regency Salon and a standalone Pavilion area containing nine meeting rooms set around a central atrium. There is also a lakeside wedding chapel.

This becomes the second new Hyatt Regency hotel to open in China in recent weeks, following the Hyatt Regency Shanghai Wujiaochang. In total, there are now 16 Hyatt Regency hotels in mainland China and a further two in Hong Kong.
