The managing director of Hyde Barker Travel has set up a new tour operator specialising in holidays to New Zealand.
John Lightwood has set up Silver Fern Holidays with a programme of escorted tours where travellers will be in small groups.
Each itinerary will have an experienced driver and guide, experiences such as a guided walk in the Kauri forest and accommodation including farm-stays and boutique lodges.
Southwell-based Lightwood is targeting independent travel agents to sell the product.
He said: “I have put my 25 years of New Zealand travels into creating unique itineraries perfect for clients who don’t want a standard escorted tour on a 45-seater, but don’t necessarily want to travel around New Zealand independently.”
Each tour is named after a native New Zealand plant and last 10, 13, 15, 17, 19 or 21 days. Agents can earn commission on prices starting at GBP2, 195.
